It has been raining on and off here for the past few days, and I’m truly grateful for it. The valley had gone without rain for a long time, making the weather unusually hot. The trees and plants had begun to show signs of stress, and the lush greenery that Kashmir is known for was slowly fading. Thankfully, the rain has brought much-needed relief to nature as well as to the people.

This morning, I honestly didn’t feel like getting out of bed. The cool weather and the sound of rain made me want to sleep a little longer. But responsibilities come first, and since I had to go to work, I got up and began my day with prayer. I bowed before my Creator, offered my prayers, and sought His blessings. Only after that did I have my breakfast and get ready for the office.

Although there isn’t much workload in the office these days, I still make it a point to reach on time. I always try to stay productive, even when work is light. I prefer finishing tomorrow’s tasks today whenever possible because it reduces pressure later and helps me stay organized. Throughout the day, I remained busy with my own work and also helped some of my colleagues after completing my responsibilities. I believe teamwork makes everyone’s job easier.

Later in the day, I accompanied my colleagues to the Treasury and the bank. We had to deposit the service fees collected from the public for issuing birth and death certificates. The process took some time, and we returned to the office around noon. After that, we had lunch and continued with the remaining office work until it was time to leave. At around 4:00 PM, we wrapped up our work and headed home.

The evening was reserved for spending time with friends. We went to Chadoora, a nearby town, where we sat together and enjoyed a delicious chicken pizza. We spent a pleasant time chatting while waiting for our order, making the outing even more enjoyable.

Afterward, I visited my friend’s boutique because I needed to alter a pair of jeans that was slightly too long. I handed it over to him for shortening. Then I called my cousin, who studies at the town library. Since he also had to return home, I waited for him so we could travel back together. It made his journey easier, and I was happy to give him company.

After reaching home, I rested for a while before helping with some household chores. Later in the evening, I went to the market to buy milk. While I was there, I met another friend at his shop, and we spent some time discussing our future picnic and outing plans. It was a relaxed and enjoyable conversation before I finally headed home.

Because it has been raining, I was careful not to stay out too late. During rainy weather, the roads are often deserted, and there is always a concern about stray dogs. Since I hadn’t taken my car with me that day, I preferred returning home early.

Once home, I had my dinner and went to my room. I had hoped to sleep early, but sleep didn’t come easily, so I stayed awake longer than I had planned. Eventually, I called it a day, grateful for the rain, a productive day at work, quality time with friends and family, and the simple blessings that make everyday life meaningful.
